Video Storytelling: A Compelling Tool for Connecting People

SMPS-video-talk.jpg

This morning Jenny Rebholz (of PushPoint Marketing) and myself gave a talk on video storytelling for the SMPS Wisconsin members. It felt really good to talk about my passion and I hope all of the attendees were able to walk away with new ways of thinking how to approach telling their stories with video.

These are the stories that were part of the presentation (in order of appearance):

A vendor story from Street Roots, Portland Oregon's award-winning street newspaper, published weekly on Fridays. The Street Roots newspaper offers a flexible income opportunity to homeless and low-income individuals experiencing poverty and homelessness; the vendor purchases the paper for $0.25 and sells it for $1.00, keeping all profit and tips. Street Roots is a proud member of International Network of Street Papers and the Society of Professional Journalists. Read online at http://news.streetroots.org/ Mission: Street Roots creates income opportunities for people experiencing homelessness and poverty by producing a newspaper and other media that are catalysts for individual and social change. Anthony and his friends spent a crisp November morning enjoying free unlimited games at Dave & Buster's in Wauwatosa. For the 10-year-old from Hartland, video games have always been a welcome escape from the realities of living with cystic fibrosis. Both Anthony and his younger brother William suffer from the life-threatening medical condition, which affects the body's production of mucous.
